Community Action for a Multicultural Society (CAMS)

The CAMS program supports the multicultural community to:

  • Have equitable access to services and programs that respond appropriately to their needs.
  • To fully participate in and benefit from all aspects of life in Queensland
  • To feel a sense of belonging in a cohesive and harmonious community.

This program strives to ensure that the Hervey Bay Multicultural Community:

  • Feel a sense of belonging and have opportunities to socialise
  • Have information and access to local services
  • Participate in community life!

 


Multicultural Hub at the Urangan Community Centre

Pop in any time to check out the Jobs Board. All activities are free for migrants, bookings are essential 4194 3000:
Monday and Fridays – one-on-one basic computer skills (last appointment 1pm)
Thursdays 9am until 11.30 - Getting to know Australia – history and geography sessions

  • Citizenship workshops
  • Assistance to apply for jobs
  • Resume writing
  • Community education sessions presentations offered each month
  • Visa assistance working with a pro bona (first appointment only) migrant agent

Culture Caf

The monthly Culture Caf showcases a particular culture at each event, offering a taste treat of their cuisine, entertainment and information about their history. This event promotes social inclusion, community cohesion and racial understanding. Culture Caf provides an opportunity to welcome new people to the area, new migrants to Australia and socially isolated people in our community. Come along to an enjoyable cafe in the heart of our town in the Community Centre.  A small entry is requested.
