The Neighbourhood Hive

The Neighbourhood Hive is an initiative of the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre, aimed at breaking down social barriers, encouraging innovation and promoting collaboration in our community through the sharing of skills and knowledge.

It’s a new community centre but at its heart, it’s more than that. It’s a unique project aimed at combatting loneliness and isolation and giving the Fraser Coast a place where people from all generations and walks of life can exchange ideas and learn from each other.

Connect and learn

This new community space will provide a home for locals who want to try something new, connect with like-minded people or start a project they’ve always dreamed of but never had space for. We want the Neighbourhood Hive to be a place where the community are free to try new things, learn new skills and make connections.

We’re working hard to make the space accessible to all and have installed a safe and secure playground, donated by Stockland, with a coffee shop and quiet lounge spaces on the way for those simply looking for a place to reflect and unwind. The centre will feature moveable, modular furniture, allowing for multipurpose "pods" to be set up according to the needs of the group or activity.

The Neighbourhood Hive is the official home of our highly successful Local Learning Hub program and our focus on learning and connecting will continue as the centre expands.

Room to grow

The Neighbourhood Hive is located in the original home of Hervey Bay business, Bradnam’s Windows and Doors. Just like this iconic homegrown company, we want the Hive to grow into a true local success story. To make this happen, we need the community to decide what they want it to be. There are few limits as to what can happen in this space so come with your ideas and we’ll help them find a home in The Neighbourhood Hive.
