It is the aim of our service to empower families and help build resilience with a focus on early intervention.

What do we do

Bay Families (formerly Family Connect) has continued to strive to identify and address needs and concerns of families in the community with a strong focus on improving the wellbeing and safety of children, young people and their families.

The family support service assists vulnerable and disadvantaged families struggling to parent children from unborn to 18 years with focus on early intervention for children less than 12 years. We support families using a strength based practice framework, assisting the client to identify their goals through regular contact and building rapport. Referrals are received by a variety of services including health, education, community services and individuals. Volunteer Family Mentors and the Family Support worker attend home visits weekly or as necessary to provide ongoing social and emotional support in Hervey Bay and surrounds for approximately 6-12 months. Staff  have worked hard to ensure positive outcomes for clients and community.
