IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Continuing to deliver during the COV-19 Virus Alert

Due to the rapidly evolving news around COVID-19, the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre (HBNC) wants to assure you that our priority is the well-being and safety of our clients, staff, volunteers and the community. Due to recent Government advice to restrict indoor gatherings to a maximum of 100, we have reviewed how we will continue to deliver this much needed service to vulnerable members of our community during this time.

As of Wednesday 18th March, we will be limiting the number of people to eat inside the centre to 80 community members (the additional 20 will accommodate volunteers and staff at our community centre. Additional protocols will be in place to ensure the safety of everyone, including serving of all meals in takeaway containers, disposable cutlery, spreading out of tables to ensure safer distance between individuals. Volunteers will continue to serve the meals to avoid minimal contact during the serving process.
To assist those people requiring a meal but are hesitant to attend the Comfort Kitchen dining hall we will be providing a limited takeaway meal and care packages available on the outdoor deck.

We are actively monitoring the situation with COVID-19 and have taken actions to provide a safe and healthy environment whilst continuing to provide our vital services to the community. We ask for your patience and respect to our committed volunteers and staff who continue to deliver this service during this time.

We continue to take advice and recommendations from the Queensland and Australian Government and have taken precautionary measures to reduce the spread of the virus. For updates on our Comfort Kitchens program please check The Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre Facebook page and website regularly.
