COVID-19 Updates

It is a very stressful and difficult time for everyone at the moment. We are trying to keep you all updated as much as possible.

On Friday afternoon the Prime Minister announced new crowd restrictions limiting indoor spacing between people to four square metres per person. This was in addition to the ban on gatherings of 100 people or more.

In response we regrettably needed to cancel the Harmony Day celebrations which were scheduled for Saturday 21st March.

We have now also implemented the following:

EVENTS & ACTIVITIES

  • Play With Your Kids Playgroup will be suspending all playgroup activities until further notice
  • Communiy³ Workshops cancelled
  • Comfort Kitchen- will be providing care packages only from both Urangan Centre and HBNC
  • The Wandering Teapot Cafe will now only provide takeaway services and in disposable cups (this also includes all kitchens in the centres)
  • The tables in the HBNC atrium have been left (with 2 seats only) for meeting spaces only and not for dining.
  • The staff kitchen has been changed to abide by social distancing rules and is set for 6 people maximum at a time.

OFFICES

  • Offices have been checked to ensure we are compliant with the four metres squared per person restriction.
  • Staff/Volunteers who have identified as vulnerable are being moved into safer working spaces.
  • Increase in using email and telephone only for communciation between staff and volunteers.

CONTINUANCE OF SERVICE DELIVERY

  • The Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre will remain open and continuing to deliver services to the community in accordance with government restrictions and the safe measures that have been put in place.
  • All client contact face to face contact has been minimised.

Please remember if you are ill to stay at home and refrain from going out in public and coming to Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre.
