There's a new event on the calendar for Fraser Coast youth.

The inaugural Bay Beats event drew more than 100 young people to Skateside on Friday afternoon, with the aim of raising awareness about Child Protection Week.

Extreme athletes from JC Action Sports provided thrilling entertainment while DJ Nixon kept the beats pumping into the evening.

Tanya Stevenson, HBNC CEO, said after such a successful first event, there were plans to run Bay Beats regularly.

"Bay Beats was amazing and will now likely become a once a term event for the community," Tanya said.

"Congratulations to the youth services team for organising such a wonderful event."
