A much loved weekly event serving some of Hervey Bay’s most vulnerable is coming back.

Comfort Kitchen, Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre’s free community dinner, is ready to welcome diners back to the table, on Wednesday, October 14 from 4pm – 6pm.

It comes after the program was scaled back to a take-away only service due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The Wednesday night meal will be available to 40 diners at a time, though diners will be rotated through to make sure as many people receive a meal as possible.

Take-away meals will also be available for those who want them.

Comfort Kitchen Team Leader, Wayne Martin said he and his team of dedicated volunteers were excited to offer regular services again.

“I am really looking forward to catching up with the regular diners and seeing the smiling faces of the dedicated Volunteers,” said Wayne Martin.

“It is exciting that the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre is able to resume doing what it does best, looking after people who are doing it tough in our community. “

Last year, the Comfort Kitchen team delivered 3858 free hot meals to people doing it tough.

So far this year, we have delivered 1950!
