How to I become a Volunteer

Joining our team is easy. Simply click 'Apply to Volunteer' and complete all of the required details in the form. This will then be sent directly to the Volunteer Coordinator who will contact you within 5 business days.

What happens next?

The Volunteer Coordinator will arrange a suitable time to conduct an interview with you. They will discuss your interests, previous experiences, qualifications and together you will be able to find a suitable volunteer role in our organisation.

Do I need to have any Qualifications?

Most of the positions in the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre will require you to have or to obtain a Working with Children Blue Card and or Yellow Card. 

If you do not hold one the Coordinator will discuss options with you around applying for one.

Will I need to have an Induction?

Yes, all new volunteers and employees are required to participate in an induction. Volunteer inductions are held once per month and you will be required to attend the next available one before you can start in your new role.

What support will I have whilst Volunteering?

Your organisational induction will be conducted by our Volunteer Engagement Officer - who is also a Volunteer and will be available to ensure that you find your way around our organisation, feel connected, understand your position, and have someone to speak to if you have any concerns. 

You will also receive a program induction by the Program Coordinator of the service where you will be volunteering.
