The Migrant Book Club opens up more opportunities for conversation and making friends and is an initiative of the Community Action for a Multicultural Society (CAMS) program at the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre.

The book club runs in partnership with St James Lutheran College and meets each Monday after the long-running English Classes held at the Centre. Participants are from diverse cultural backgrounds, making the club's conversation rich with valuable input from the members discussing their experiences and thoughts.

“A lot has been achieved through the Book Club, understanding comprehension, grammar, increasing diverse knowledge, listening and social concepts,” said Farzina, CAMS Support Officer

“We are very thankful for the generosity of the College, to allow the Club to access various books that reflect Australian culture and stories and for the continued support.”

If you would like to get involved, please call the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre on 4194 3000 or read more about the program: https://www.hbnc.com.au/community-action-for-a-multicultural-society
