Join us this Wednesday, October 12th, for a very special Comfort Kitchen event.

In recognition of Anti-Poverty Week, HBNC invites the whole community to attend or support Comfort Kitchen.

The free community meal, delivered weekly, will be taken to another level this week, with special decorations and other touches.

There will also be opportunities to support families in need via online giving platform, GIVIT.

HBNC’s Community Development Manager, Cate Akaveka, said Anti-Poverty Week was a good reminder to stop and take stock.

“We’re so grateful to the community for the ongoing support Comfort Kitchen receives, through donations of money, food and time,” Cate said.

“This enables us to deliver about 80 meals to the community’s most vulnerable each week.

“This Anti-Poverty Week, I encourage everyone in the community to consider how they can support Comfort Kitchen, or to come along, enjoy a meal and see what it’s all about.”

Comfort Kitchen is held every Wednesday from 4pm at the Hervey Bay Community Centre.

This week, representatives from the Cashless Debit Cards support program will be in attendance, available to discuss transition options.
