Regularly, we will feature a member of the HBNC team, giving you a chance to Meet the Neighbours. The goal is to highlight and celebrate the people at the heart of our organisation, who work tirelessly to make the Wide Bay Burnett community a stronger and more resilient one.

This week, we'd like you to meet Bernard Wheball, President of HBNC's Management Committee.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I am married, with two adult children, and have lived in Hervey Bay for over 17 years.

What is a quick summary of your professional background?

I am a partner with Ulton Chartered Accountants and have over 28 years of professional experience. Prior to joining Ulton I worked in the Government in various clerical roles.

What drew you to work with the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre?

The ability to contribute to the community within which I live. I am passionate about the Fraser Coast and being a part of HBNC allows me to help build our community and provide support to those that need it.

How do you see your role making a difference in the lives of the community’s most vulnerable?

My role is very simple – I help with the administrative paperwork that allows others to directly help those that need it.

What’s one thing you hope to see happen or change for our community?

I would love to see more people give time to help build a better community.
