With just under a month to go before hundreds of riders take to the streets for the Hervey Bay RSL Tour De Bay 2021, you may be wondering – what’s it all for?

Apart from being an incredible opportunity to take in the unparalleled beauty of Hervey Bay with your mates, this is an event with a life-changing cause at its heart.

Ever year, this event raises funds for the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre’s Youth Mentoring Program.

Thanks to the generous support of major sponsor Hervey Bay RSL, and our other supporters, we’re excited to bring Tour De Bay back for its 10th anniversary after COVID put heavy restrictions in place last year.

That means a new chance to support the Youth Mentoring Program by getting involved in one of the rides, held over a range of distances.

HBNC CEO, Tanya Stevenson, said the Youth Mentoring Program existed to make a real difference in the lives of school students having trouble socialising.

“Our incredible volunteer mentors work with students to offer a sounding board, listen and help with goal setting,” Tanya said.

“The Hervey Bay RSL Tour De Bay 2021 is a vital part of making this valuable service available to the students who need it.”

The Youth Mentoring Program currently works with about 30 volunteers who work directly with Fraser Coast school students.

Youth Mentoring Coordinator, Rowena Allen, said she was always looking for appropriately skilled mentors to get involved.

“This is a unique volunteering opportunity and one that offers the chance to make a real, one-on-one difference in a young person’s life,” Rowena said.
