As this incredibly tough year nears its end, it’s time for some kindness and positivity.

Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre is excited to host a bumper World Kindness Day event this evening!

Hundreds of people have already registered to attend and there’s room for more.

HBNC’s Community Engagement Officer, Cate Akaveka (pictured), said this Covid-safe event would be a chance for the community to come together.

“After the year we’ve had, we hope this event will bring our community together and help us focus on how we can all make a positive difference in each other’s lives,” Cate said.

“Our event will include great local talent Melomania and Clear Effect – young musicians who have had their performance opportunities drastically cut back by the pandemic.

“Hopefully, this is the beginning of our path back to a vibrant community life.”

We're inviting event attendees to use #neighbourhoodkindness on their social media photos and posts, as a way of sharing the kindness and fun throughout our online community.

As well as the top quality live music, the event will feature a display of artworks created during Kindness Art Workshops held earlier this year.

These workshops were facilitated by local artists, April Spadina and LeeLee West.

“These works will be on display at the event and the community will vote on the top three to be transformed into murals by Wolfpack Print Alliance to be displayed in our community,” Cate said.

“LeeLee West and Aunty Jan Williams have collaborated on an artwork that will include input from the community on the night.

“We’ll also be inviting everyone to create rocks for our Kindness Garden and to  take part in a community.”

A range of food vans will be available, plus a full bar.

Coffee and tea will also be available from The Wandering Teapot Café.

“Thankyou to Fraser Coast Regional Council, Green Dog Events and Fraser Coast Entertainment for supporting our event,” Cate said.

“Our MC, Robert Garland, will keep everyone entertained and we’ll also hear from our Mayor, George Seymour.”

There is still time to book. We'll see you there, from 4pm today!

Proudly supported by Fraser Coast Regional Council
