The Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre (HBNC) is excited to be partnering with leading youth education and technology company, BOP Industries, to deliver three interactive school holiday programs.

The workshops, taking place at the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre from the 11th to 13th January 2022, are aimed at engaging young people in the Fraser Coast in digital technology, business and future thinking.

HBNC Community Development Manager Cate Akaveka said the workshops will enable local children and youth to participate in hands-on activities that will spark imagination and encourage thinking about big ideas through learning.

“The workshops are being delivered by Brisbane based BOP industries who are renowned for their digital and innovation education-based learning activities in schools and organisations around Australia,” Ms Akaveka said.

This school holiday program has been made possible thanks to funding from the Fraser Coast Regional Council’s Community Event Grants scheme.

The workshops taking place at the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre are:

#Digital Creators | Tuesday January 11th 2022, 9am – 3pm | Ages 8 - 12

The future is changing rapidly and the way we live, work, and play is evolving and developing daily. In this program, students will be exploring a range of hands-on creative technologies as they work to solve a series of challenges and see how these technologies can be used to innovate around the world.

#Designed Spaces | Wednesday January 12th 2022, 9am – 3pm | Ages 8 - 14

Imagine Hervey Bay in the year 2050. How would you like to design it? In this program, students will be redesigning areas of the local community to make them more sustainable, technological, and fun for the community. They'll even have an opportunity to pitch your designs to local council!

#Business Builders | Thursday January 13th 2022, 9am-3pm| Ages 12 - 16

In this program, we'll show young people how they can build and create their launch strategy for their very own business idea. We will be working with students to follow their interests and grow their ideas into a tangible product or service. So if your child would like to swap pocket money for business income, this is the program for them!

Tickets are $20 per child for a full day workshop 9am to 3pm. BYO lunch and snacks. Please visit Hervey Bay School Holiday Programs - Powered by BOP Industries, Urangan, 11th of January | Humanitix to book. (Concessions are available, please contact [email protected] )
