The Wandering Teapot

Our story

Since 1989 our community organisation has empowered thousands of vulnerable people to regain their dignity and lead a happy and independent life again. In 2018 we launched our socially minded tea shop to help support these life-changing community programs.

Our vision

Our social enterprise vision is to help those less fortunate through a simple action - a cup of tea.  With every purchase you make, 100% of our profits goes back into compassionate projects that encourage independence to people affected by poverty & homelessness.

Our tea not only tastes great and is good for you but it provides an opportunity for youth to develop real ‘life’ skills to empower them to find long-term employment & life long success.

Fraser Coast Social Plan

Our Social Plan has been developed to highlight our unique lifestyle and guide us to strive for the best possible outcomes for the Fraser Coast  community. This Social Plan was developed through a partnership between the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre and Fraser Coast Regional Council utilising funding provided by the Australian government’s Building Better Regions Program.

Between March and August 2018 there were a number of community consultations across the Fraser Coast community. From these consultations the following four key themes have been identified.

  1. Diverse Community
  2. Community Health
  3. Aging Community
  4. Youth and Family
  5. Natural Environment

Conversations Creating Change

A professional development, planning and networking program to facilitate change in our community.

The Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre has co-hosted Planning, Development and Networking events since 2013. The broad aim of this series is to develop a new way of "seeing" and talking about our community.

We want to embed in our local community's conversations the idea that we are more than the government's descriptors of disadvantage. By hosting a friendly environment to build, explore and support alternative stories, we hope to encourage discussions that will bring about real change.

Since August 2014, the catch cry of "Conversations Creating Change" emerged as a framing statement for these events and has been used since.
