Due to the escalating spread of COVID-19 in our community, the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre will be temporarily closing its community centres to the public.

The centres will be accessed by staff only from Monday, January 17th until Monday, February 7th, to ensure the safety of our staff.

All services will continue during this time but public access to the community centres will be restricted.

Services will be delivered via side access from the Hervey Bay Community deck, over the phone or out in the community.

HBNC CEO, Tanya Stevenson, said this was a necessary step to take to ensure services could continue to be delivered to the community’s most vulnerable.

“We join other local service organisations in taking steps to keep our staff and community safe as COVID-19 impacts the region,” Tanya said.

“While there is no government requirement to restrict access to the centre, this is an important move to make sure our staff are able to continue delivering services throughout the peak of the current spread.”

This temporary closure affects all events and venue bookings scheduled during the time period.

This includes the popular Culture Caf event, which will now be delivered in a virtual format at hbnc.com.au > What’s On.

Comfort Kitchen free weekly meals will continue to be delivered, takeaway only, from 4.30pm each Wednesday.

• Hervey Bay Community Centre, 22 Charles St Pialba
• The Neighbourhood Hive, 184 Boat Harbour Dr Pialba
• Reconnect Youth Centre, 80 Main St Pialba
