Free Legal Advice, referral and education

About Our Service

The Taylor Street Community Legal Service is an independent, non-profit community organisation which aims to address disadvantage across the Fraser Coast, Gympie, Bundaberg and North Burnett regions through the provision of free, quality legal advice.

Our service delivery includes free legal advice, referral and education.

We are committed to equitable access to the legal system and justice, and the equal protection of human rights.

Although our service is not means-tested, our priority is to assist people experiencing hardship or vulnerable to disadvantage.

The Taylor Street Community Legal Service is managed by the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre Inc; funded by the Commonwealth and Queensland governments, and accredited by the National Association of Community Legal Centres.

How we can help

The Taylor Street Community Legal Service provides 15-minute general consultations, by appointment, with a Solicitor on most matters of law. We commonly provide advice in the following areas:-

  • Family Law;
  • Domestic Violence;
  • Child Safety;
  • Crime;
  • Traffic Law;
  • Debt and Bankruptcy;
  • Workplace Matters;
  • Discrimination;
  • Consumer Law;
  • Residential Tenancies;
  • Neighbourhood Disputes;
  • Trees and Fences; and
  • Elder Law.

Free Online Divorce Workshop

Free Online Family Law Workshop

Consultations are provided by lawyers employed by us and/or local solicitors who volunteer their time to assist the community.

As appointments are limited to a maximum of 15 minutes, people accessing the service are encouraged to best utilise their time by being prepared with any particular questions you have about their matter

We cannot give financial advice or advice on matters involve personal injury, commercial law, taxation, immigration, native title or complex matters involving specialist advice. However, referrals can be provided.

All consultations are free and confidential.
