Youth Mentoring, one of HBNC’s best-loved programs, received a welcome boost thanks to the Hervey Bay Advertiser Club.

HBNC was the fundraising partner at Friday’s Advertiser Club event, where an incredible $4500 was raised for Youth Mentoring.

The funds were raised through the generosity of local businesspeople, who purchased raffle tickets or donated funds.

Youth Mentoring is a fully self-funded program, for which HBNC receives no regular government funding.

HBNC CEO, Tanya Stevenson, said community support, sponsorship and donations kept this life-changing program going.

“Youth Mentoring is a lifeline for young people who are having difficulties at school,” Tanya said.

“We believe in this program because one-on-one support can make an incredible difference in a young person’s life. It shows that someone believes in them.

“Thank you to the Advertiser Club for digging deep to support Youth Mentoring.”

Tanya said the program was needed now more than ever, as young people continued to recover from the impacts of COVID-19 restrictions.

“Having a support network is important at any time, but particularly when isolation and loneliness are taking their toll,” she said.

The Youth Mentoring program is always looking for suitable volunteer mentors.
