Something special is happening for Fraser Coast artists and you have the chance to get involved.

Our Artist in Residence program is off to a picture-perfect start, with Hervey Bay artist, Janette Cunningham’s stunning work on display in the Hervey Bay Community Centre.

Janette’s Creative Heads have become a talking point for visitors to the centre. This unique artist is also offering members of the community a chance to learn from the master, with a workshop coming up on October 2nd at The Neighbourhood Hive.

This is just a sample of what the Artist in Residence program has to offer Fraser Coast artists. It is not just a chance to put your art on display in one of our community hubs. It is also an opportunity to help grow a thriving artistic community on the Fraser Coast.

Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre Vice President, Kirsti Kee, said artists of all kinds were welcome to apply to take part in the 2022 program.

“The Artist in Residence program aims to provide opportunities for local artists to share their work and arts practice with the community,” Kirsti said.

“It also provides opportunities for artists to deliver community workshops and present information to the community about their art and to encourage community members and local businesses to become more actively involved in the sector.

“There will be opportunities for community members to learn new skills through workshops and for artists to engage with the business community through presentations and 'meet and greet’ activities.”

Applications are now open for the next round of Artist in Residence opportunities. Find more information and apply online.

The program is funded by The Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF), a partnership between the Queensland Government and Fraser Coast Regional Council.
