Meet Katie Scott - HBNC's new Creative Production Officer. With a strong background in marketing and a passion for storytelling, Katie has joined the HBNC team to create content and good news stories, particularly focusing on projects funded through the Social Shift Community Led Initiative.

Let's learn a little about Katie!

Tell us a bit about yourself

Hi I’m Katie, originally a Darwin girl (Humpty Doo, to be precise, for those who know the area). I have since lived in Newcastle and Brisbane but have been in Hervey Bay for 8 years (Almost makes me a local right?). I’m a mum to two toddler boys and I am always caffeinated because of them.

What is a quick summary of your professional background?

I have a Bachelor in Business with a Major in Marketing and a Minor in Social Media. I have a strong background within the Tourism Industry, having worked in hotels prior to moving to Hervey Bay. I have just come from a local marketing agency, where I had a focus on website project management as well as supporting the director with his Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) clients.

What drew you to work with HBNC?

As someone who loves what they do, I wanted the opportunity to support HBNC in advocating for its support services as well as creating content and crafting stories surrounding the success of HBNC's projects. HBNC also aligns with my values and I believe I can support the team to continue the centres' growth, as well as their positive impact within our community.

How do you see your role making a difference in the lives of the community’s most vulnerable?

This role will allow me to help focus on raising awareness as well as promoting resources and information to our community. I am excited to showcase the success stories of the many programs, as well as helping further build a sense of community support for HBNC.
