Another highlight of Multicultural Queensland Month is the screening of the thought-provoking film Mary Meets Mohammad at Bigscreen Cinemas. This film tells the powerful story of an unlikely friendship that blossoms between Mary, a staunchly Christian pensioner and member of a local knitting club, and Mohammad, a 26-year-old Muslim asylum seeker detained at Tasmania’s first detention centre.

The screenings, offer a unique opportunity for reflection and dialogue on important social issues. Entry is free, and moviegoers will be treated to complimentary popcorn and a drink, making it a perfect outing for those interested in exploring themes of empathy, understanding, and multiculturalism.
