Are you interested in learning about keeping Native Stingless Bees?

The Local Learning Hub is running another introductory workshop on keeping native bees.

Native Bees are an important part of our local ecosystem and keeping bees is becoming a popular pastime. Stingless bees are good for the garden and produce small amounts of delicious honey.

Learn all about these species of bees, why they are important for the local environment, and how you could set up your own hive at home.

Where: Hervey Bay Community Centre, 22 Charles Street, Pialba

When: Thursday 29th April, 9.30am-11.30am.

Cost: $5 per person (includes tea and coffee)

Bookings: Please book as soon as possible as numbers are limited. Bookings are essential.

This event is part of the HBNC’s new Local Learning Hub, a series of courses and workshops aimed at introducing Fraser Coast residents to new ideas, skills and friends.

About your volunteer instructor:

Phil Browne is Hervey Bay local and an amateur stingless bee enthusiast who has been acquiring a wealth of information and knowledge about stingless bees and has set up his own hive. 

Q - What do I need to bring?

A – Bring a pen and paper to take notes, and come ready to learn about bee keeping and meet some like-minded people.

Q – Is this event Covid Safe?

A - Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre adheres to strict COVID safe practices. We ask that all attendees practice social distancing and stay home if unwell.

All attendees for events of the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre must adhere to the following practices:

  • Stay at home if unwell or have a cough, fever, sore throat, fatigue or shortness of breath.
  • Seek assistance if becoming unwell during the event (locate security, event officials or first aid)
