Taylor Street Legal Services is a program funded by the Commonwealth Attorney General’s Department and managed by the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre.

OUR MISSION
To provide non discriminatory legal services and contribute to community legal education with an emphasis on access to justice for socio-economically disadvantaged people in the Wide Bay region.

The Taylor Street Community Legal Service is an independent non-profit community organisation, which provides FREE advice & assists with community legal education.

This Service aims to increase community awareness of the law through the use of media, legal education and publications.

Assisting clients to access the legal system and advocating necessary law reform are primary goals of this service.

The Taylor Street Community Legal Service can provide advice in any of the following areas:

Family Law

• Divorce

• Parenting

• Property

• Child Support

Civil Law

• Debt

• Traffic

• Motor Vehicle Accidents

• Tenancy

• Peace and Good Behaviour

• Neighbourhood disputes

• Dividing fences

COMMUNITY LEGAL EDUCATION

The emphasis of the community legal education program offered by the Taylor Street Community Legal Service, is to inform people of their rights and responsibilities.

We aim to improve the community’s understanding of the law and also to demystify the processes associated with the legal system by enabling people to participate in their legal problems and to be fully informed.

We are able to present information sessions on any legal topic upon request, subject to staff availability. We will endeavour to tailor all presentations to the needs of the target audience. An example of topics available include:

• Elder Law
• Youth Legal Issues
• Consumer Law
